Whilst reading an article from Marketing Week “Product is the P all marketers should strive to influence”, it prompted us to feature another P that is vital in marketing and one that we at Performance For Sales are passionate about.
You may be familiar with the 4Ps of marketing, known as the “Marketing Mix”, (McCarthy, 1960). The original Ps are Product, Place, Price and Promotion, with People, Process and Physical Evidence being added later to better serve those marketing services rather than products (Booms & Bitner, 1982).
OK, so we mentioned we are passionate but that’s not the P we mean – believe it or not, we mean Patience!
Why? Good question!
Marketing is not a pick up and put down thing! It is not about doing it when you have time, it’s about adopting a continuous process (there is another P but that is for another blog!).
Supporting people and their well-being is vital in the workplace and marketing should not be the process that brings with it pressure, pains and frustration. Marketing offers space and opportunity when integrated with other business processes.
This is why Patience is vital. Here at Performance For Sales, we enjoy providing licenses to companies who also share the passion for people and their success. We are all about the personal qualities of those involved in sales, marketing and business development. By adopting a continuous process that shows you where, how and why, you immediately have a support structure with purpose.
That by its mere nature means there is something you can trust. Trust the process, breathe and have patience.
We know that relationships play such a key role in business growth and marketing is the process that captures, manages and supports the development of those relationships. One post on a social platform may not hit the sales target and that can make measurement and marketing effectiveness tricky for those involved. Others may not be so patient. However, using a framework built with outcomes and a tool that helps develop people, also gives space and room to be patient.
Good things happen, it is about confidence, belief and patience!
